Oct 9th, Farm Tour 10am-noon

$35.00

We’ll gather at the Homeplace built over 150 years ago and hear Roy tell Civil War stories and talk of agricultural practices in the 1800’s.  We’ll see the dahlia beds and cut a full jar of blooms. Then on to the hoop house which is winding down but has a few lisianthus, zinnias, basil, etc. and we’ll explain what’s next for this valuable space. From there we’ll drive to Aunt Willie’s with limelight and tardivia hydrangea in full bloom as well as other perennials and woodies. You can wander into the chicken coop turned flower studio, see our walk-in cooler, the smoke house turned Bucket shed and explorer inside aunt willie’s 1939/40 craftsman home. Cost of the tour is $35 which is nonrefundable, and includes lots of history, growing information, and a ball jar bouquet. Bring any questions you have related to farming and we’ll try to provide answers and advice. Bring nippers or scissors if you have them but we’ll have plenty to share.  Come ready to learn and hopefully make a friend or two. We love our farm tour groups as we love sharing our farm life with others. See below for more details.

Description

Tour will meet rain or shine so bring an umbrella if rain looks imminent but there are plenty of run down old buildings to duck into if we need to. We’ll begin at the Homeplace, 399 Bruce Doan Rd., Blountville, 37617 which is the driveway on the left just AFTER the hoop house. I’ll try to remember to put balloons on the mailbox.  Pull down the driveway towards the white farmhouse and park anywhere in the grass. Tours generally last about 2 hours but you’re welcome to stay an extra minute to hike up to the cabin if there’s enough daylight. There is no restroom at the Homeplace, but there is at Aunt Willie’s. Cost is not refundable but if for some reason you’re unable to join us last minute, you can send someone in your place.
